Giving some of the XC buddies a taste of DH this weekend...if anybody wants to jump in on the tour, we'll be concentrating on the less difficult stuff and moving at a reasonable pace. If ya don't want to make it a day trip, can hook ya up with a place to crash too, long as you don't mind a bit of revelry.

Once they go DH, there's no going back. I'll never understand why more XC guys don't ever try DH - I think a majority think it's just mega drops and insane grades! Mountains are much tamer and more family oriented now. I was out at Plattekill 5/6 years ago and it was really steep/big drops. Now I've talked to the crew out there and it's totally family oriented from easy dirt roads and non-tech singletrack down with intermediate stuff and of course the big stuff too. But the point is there's something for every one and you don't neeed a DH bike. A simple HT will suffice even on some of the trails. XC skills temendously benefit from DH riding over night!! Have Fun Slap and pedal that DH coke!

Yeah, you can have a blast at a lot of mts on any sturdy bike, specially Highland - see lots of people totally ripping on HTs there. SR is a bit less groomed, but luckily, I was able to hunt down 5 loaner DH bikes and tons of gear, so it should be a really good time.

A few years back, we'd do a 'beginner DHer' day every season and do a tour somewhere so people could try out lift riding. 100% success rate on having a helluva good time. Maybe it's time to revive that.

Thanks Barry - you da man! The passes will go towards the noble cause of getting a couple more trail-riders on the lifts this w/e, and the $$ saved will go towards the even more noble cause of getting a few brews into the hands of the trail crew up there (as well as our bellies).

If anybody else is planning on being up there, gimme a shout.
