XTR M970 Shifter / Disc Brake Compatibility

So, as I have a nasty habit of DWE (drinking while Ebaying), i ended up with a new set of XTR M970 shifter pods. http://forums.mtbr.com/images/smilies/crazy.gif

I did want to upgrade from my current Dual Control setup, but didnt really do the homework I should have regarding brake compatibility.

My plan was to go with the Formula K24's, but after reading about the mixed reviews on its setup options with the M970 shifters, i need to explore my options further. I then read about Hope's not fitting well...then well, I couldnt find many other reviews.

Now to the question...

Short of Shimano and Avids offerings, what current hydro brakesets fit well with the XTR M970 shifter pods? :confused:

Did you just get the pod or did you get the integrated brake lever & pod?

I bought just the pods, the M970's ('09's, i believe)...i have been using the older, v-brake Dual Control XTR's for a little while now (came with my second hand, though brand new, Intense 5.5EVP). I can't stand them, though they work just fine. I guess it's personal preference...

Ahh - ok I get it now. I think you might appreciate this months Bike Magazine, its a review issue. Here is an overview of the brake section:

Top brakes in the review:
Shimano Saint got most powerful
Hope Tech M4 got most solid
Hayes Stroker Ace was the best big bike value
Avid Elixir CR was the most versatile performer

They also looked at:
Avid Elixir CR Mag, Magura Marta, Formula RX, and Shimano SLX

Ended up with the 2010 XT's...as intended, they fit great.
