After a successful trip to Back Country Excursions (BCE) last summer, BVNEMBA and BCE have combined forces again to offer another stellar weekend of camping and riding. We had ten attendees last summer from several NEMBA chapters who all had a blast and we're looking to increase those numbers this year. Most of last year's group have already signed up for this summer's trip; will you be one of the lucky ones who gets a spot before we're at capacity?

Back Country Excursions offers camping, canoeing, swimming, tubing and, of course, mountain biking. Founded in 1991 by Cliff Krolick, BCE is the first and longest-running mountain bike touring company in the Eastern U.S. Cliff started by first promoting eco-biking tours and multi-sport adventures. Mountain biking became the main draw. Cliff's love of the outdoors and his deep personal conviction that "the quality of human life is directly related to our appreciation and gratitude for the natural community" makes it clear that getting in touch with nature on a mountain bike is top priority around here. His aim is to share rare, beautiful, wild areas with guests while making minimal environmental impact. A portion of the proceeds are donated annually to local environmental causes.

Upon arrival at BCE, visitors are often met in the driveway by Cliff, who greets them and asks “When do you want to go for a ride?” Starting with an early Friday afternoon ride on trails with names like Wild Wild West, Lumpy Gravy and Expressway, the great time continues through to Sunday afternoon. Cliff breaks his riding into morning and afternoon sessions with a return to base for lunch. For post-ride relaxation, there are campfires, a terrain park, a wood-fired hot tub and more. Cliff is an excellent guide and is able to cater to all skill levels.

I’ve been working with Cliff again to organize a weekend for NEMBA members to get together and enjoy the trails. We’ve set dates of June 25-27 and arranged for a group rate. There are several different accommodations available and prices are as follows: camping-$135/ yurt-$160/ indoor room-$185. All prices include 2 nights, 2.5 days of guided riding, and 4 meals. Up to 4 folks can stay inside rooms, 8 in the yurt, and 15 or so in tents. Deposits of 50% will be due in mid-May for this year's trip.

Hey everybody, I've had a couple of cancellations for tent sites and there's still plenty of room in the yurt. If you're interested let me know and I'll get you the details you need to join us. For those who are already on board, look for more info coming soon.
