Hey Guys,
What are the trails like around Lake Massabesic? My only experience is a Turkey Burner a few years back. Specifically, I hoped to find some less technical double (maybe a little single) track to bring my wife to. She does OK on Woodpecker and Hemlock, not too bad on Red Pine, but the techy twisties are too much for her after that. I read somewhere that there are some good fast-ish trails around the lake. Are they just fire roads? Should I bother?
And while I'm at it... would Yudicky be a better trip for the 2 of us to make from Boston?

If you want very easy but fun trails try Mines Falls in Nashua. next exit up from Yudicky. My wife likes the trails there, its more of a running/dog walking place but the outer trails are singletrack. Its long enough to spend over an hour, but there are many ways to get back to the parking lot so you can always cut it short.

Just my opinion but you may want to try Willowdale in Ipswich.

There was NEMBA event there last weekend and I feel it would definitely be a great place to bring a beginner. There is a lot of double-track and the single-track has little climbing/tech and the flow is outstanding.
again just my 2 cents

What I believe you are referring to is the forest road loop around Tower Pond north of 101. This indeed may meet your criteria.
Second the Willowdale Pine Swamp suggestion. It contains of the most pleasant 1-track in the area if you can locate it and string it together. If you don't like the singletrack or don't find it, there are miles of doublewide in not unpleasant surroundings. Another bonus - no hunting east of Rt. 1. Not a bad place for the hounds if they are ok with the occasional equine.

Thanks guys. We've been to Willowdale a couple times, but haven't found a good ST route. Just a piece here, a piece there. It was a bit frustrating. I tried to get a tour from a local I know but we never hooked up.
Have to try Mines Falls.
McStumpy, aren't we supposed to have a Mach5 fest at Yudicky some time? I still haven't been there yet.

Rob, I was thinking of doing a night ride at Yudicky on Friday 9pm... that's if it's not past your bedtime :)

Rode last night on my new bike and did a little trail maintenance on some down trees. Yudicky should be clean and ready for Saturday AM.
