What's a good bottom bracket for all the muddy trails we have around here?

I seem to seize up a bb each year. I have a new XTR that seized up after one muddy race this year so I regreased it. Then after Landmine I regreased it again but the bearings have a sandy/gritty feel to them. I hear Hope's are good, but expensive. I believe Phil Wood has one with grease gun ports which would make regreasing once in a while easy.

I have 5 hard seasons on my bb and it still works like new with zero maintenance. I don't race but I have taken it on a bunch of really muddy rides. Including a weekend at KT where the there were 3' deep mud holes. I think it is a Cannondale since it came on my Cannondale Prophet.

Enduro makes a tool so you can rebuild it. Its one of the tools on my list to acquire over the winter.

CK now is in the BB business...
I've had the same problem with most (internal) BB's. One deep stream crossing, and that's it...Now I just ride it 'til it won't turn anymore.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but check out an external BB with Enduro bearings if you can. Despite my best efforts, the Raceface shell with Enduro bearings has been working great for me. I had issues with the Raceface bearings - they are not sealed very well. The shell for Raceface and Shimano external bearings is the same.

Phil wood makes replacement bearings that last a little longer.

I recently replaced my Raceface BB with Enduro bearings. They run great now - I think even better than before. Enduro has Shimano compatible ones as well. They also sell the whole BB if you want it.

I just got the LBS to push out the old ones, and press in the new ones. They took about 25 miles before the drag disappeared, but they were all I hoped for. The forums I read warned of the drag.

Paid less than $50 all up for bearings and install.

Ah, Chris King is the one with the grease gun attachment. I thought about replacing the bearings but I hear the enduro seals are really stiff. If the seals break in though, then that might not be bad...

FYI - Raceface and Shimano have the same shell - enduro bearings fit in either.

I ordered a Chris King. If I can get two years out of it, then it'll be worth the money. It also adds bling value to the bike. :)

I think the Chris King has a 5 year warranty, with grease ports.
