Crunchy Crossmax

Front wheel of my older Crossmax. Bearings seem either really dry, or maladjusted. Sounds like they're full of dirt, or metal-on metal crunchiness. There are maybe 6 adjusting holes on the outside of the cone(?), but I cannot figger out how to get to the bearings or cartridges or whatevers in there.....
Anyone have the technological know-how?
