Hi Guys and Gals,
I recently bought a new XT top normal rear derailleur (M771) to replace my 4-year old and battered XT derailleur. It's all well and good, except that I'm confused by the adjustment barrel where the cable enters the body.
My old derailleur had a thread inside the bushing/entrance to the place where the cable passes, so that you can turn the barrel and it will screw in and out to adjust the cable tension. This is actually part of the derailleur body itself.
The new derailleur just has a clean, smooth (and wider) inside - no thread, no nothing, so that the cable will be held there by pure tension between the bolt at the bottom of the derailleur, and no barrel adjustment can be made.
That seems unusual to me. No adjustment of tension? Am I missing something?
Thanks for any help,
