Planning on doing my first big ride and was looking for some feedback on what kind of gear's being used for multiday rides, saddles, shoes, shorts, gloves. Thought the tech forum would be a good place to dig.

I've done multi-dayers many times, the most important thing for me is taint care. I have found Bag Balm to be the best thing to provide overnight healing for any chafed skin "down there". It is really amazing stuff where I can hardly sit at the end of day one, after a night of Bag Balm the area really seems to be completely healed.

I would not use anything special for multi-day rides as you want to use what you and your body is used to. I would definitely have a fresh pair of shorts and gloves for each day. I know some people double up on padded shorts, but I find that to be uncomfortable.

You should check out the Rivendell website too. They only sell the most tried and true stuff. And, there's alot of good articles about bike camping, long distance riding and bike setup.

Shorts:
Swobo shorts come with removable liners. just get a few liners and you are good for multiple days. I always bring these on multi day trips, really good fit and comfortable. + the bag balm you should be good to go.

For long rides - forget the fashion statements. Good quality Lycra shorts only! Baggies or anything else extraneous wedged between the saddle and you is a very bad thing.
