looking at trying different saddle. going on a cross country tour and need a comfy saddle. any shops in the boston area that participate in the wtb test ride program? i have a rocket v on my mtb and i like it but for road riding i did not like it. butt starts getting uncomfortable after a while. with mtb its ok because i am out of the saddle a lot and i take frequent breaks. road is a little different

I'm a fan of Specialized's "Body Geometry" saddles. They claim to have designed them with the input of a urologist. I have an "Avatar". I bought it at Ace Wheelworks in Somerville.
I don't know that they have a "program" but they got all three sizes of the saddle for me, mounted them up on my bike and let me take many spins around the neighborhood. That was enough for me to be able to tell the difference in the sizes and determine which one fit me right. This is my third season with the saddle and I'm still very happy with it.
Is there something more to WTB's saddle trial program?

At Milford Bike, Which is my L(sort of)BS, they'll let me take out the demo saddle and try it on the trail. Not sure if that's everyone, since they know me, but definitely had a bunch of saddles early this year with special yellow coloring to denote the demos. So the WTB program would be AT LEAST what you experienced at Ace.

the real way to pack miles in comfortably day-after-day
san marco saddle
lots of assos chamois cream
this is win win
the best saddle alone, by itself, is good for 5 hours. after that, or back to back
long days, you gotta take care of the friction no matter what you ride. starting
with chamois grease practically guarantees your best ride and performance day after day
for sure..... you will be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more willing to hop back on the bike
