So, I'd been thinking for some time that one could probably put together a pretty neat cyclocross bike for a kid or the vertically challenged by basing it on an MTB. By ransacking my parts bin and with the help of some additional parts from members including AA (frame and cranks), I threw this together Sunday as a proof of concept rig.

Everything seems to work OK, though it feels like a clown bike for me :)

Looks cool! How vertically challenged are we talking here? What's the standover height on that rig?

Not sure but as you can see. it's pretty darn tiny. The problem with MTBs is that they have long TT's compared to road bikes. If you chopped a couple inches off the front and welded a head tube back on it would be mint :)
