Mountain Bike Patrol Training Clinic for New Patrollers: June 27th and 28th.
The New England Mountain Bike Patrol is running its annual New Patroller Training Clinic on the weekend of June 27 and 28 at the Ranger Station in Lynn Woods. Training will provide Red Cross certification in First Aid and CPR, and cover basic bike maintenance, conflict management, park rules and regulations. For more information about the Patrol, check the GBNEMBA website and click “MTB Patrol.” Are you interested in becoming a Patroller? Let us know!
Working towards a more regional New England look, the Patrol continues to look for new volunteers. If you enjoy mountain biking and have interest in helping others, contact the Patrol! Membership is open to all mountain bikers, and don't worry about your skill level; our members cover the full gambit from beginner to advanced.
Though much of the Patrol’s work is done silently in the background, the services provided are serious and have been much appreciated at that moment of need. Each Patroller can tell a story about a particular time they assisted an injured rider, helped a rider repair a broken chain, or simply gave a hiker a trail map and directions. The Patrol’s camaraderie is amazing and they have a lot of fun working together. In the end, each Patroller provides a service and still has a great time riding the trails.
The Patrol has been busy providing service to numerous NEMBA events. You may have seen us at the Middlesex Fells Opening Day event on April 18th or the SEMASS-sponsored Mountain Bike Day at Blue Hills Reservation at the end of May. Looking forward, we'll be at the National Park Service family ride on June 21st, Take a Kid Mountain Bike Day on October 3rd, NEMBAFest on October 4th, and a few Mountain Bike Adventure Series rides scheduled at Wendell State Forest in July, Foxboro State Forest in August, and the Wicked Ride of the East at Harold Parker in late October. We're even supporting the Landmine Classic race at Wompatuck in September!
