On Sunday June 07, 2009, Essex County Greenbelt (ECGA) in conjunction with Dieselbikes, Sinister Bikes and North Shore NEMBA will be holding our second of four Trail Maintenance days in Tompson Reservation. This trail day has been approved by ECGA property management. Sunday will begin phase 1 of refurbishing a connecting trail that leads up towards Eagle Rock. We will require a ton of volunteers to complete the job on Sunday. The trail work site about a 15 minutes walk from the parking location! Here is what you need to know:

Start Time and Meeting Location:
Parking/meeting location is at roadside pullouts on Bray St. on the north side of the reservation near Old Tompson St. Check NSNEMBA.org for map of parking location.

Project Weather/Cancellation Notice:
Dieselbikes works regardless the weather conditions are rainy or sunny. If inclement weather such as but not limited to severe lighting, heavy rain, nor'easters and or snow, we will then post a cancellation notice one day prior on the homepage of our website.

Estimated Project Time:
We accept this project to take 4-5 hours to complete. If you bring your bike, you can be the first to ride the refurbished trail. We may have a group ride after the trail day, but this is weather/time dependent.

What to Bring:
Bring your own bug spray, snacks, water, pair of work gloves and eye protection. Weather is always questionable, so dress appropriately. Bring your bike is encouraged but always optional. Lunch will be provided by North Shore NEMBA.

What WE are going to do:
This project will encompass the re-routing of an eroded downhill/uphill climb to more sustainable ground. This trail section currently servers as a connector from Old Tompson Street to Eagle Rock. Sections of the trail are either muddy or wet most of the year, plus the initial climb out of the valley has become un-sustainable. A new trail thread will be cut; better utilizing the given terrain. We estimate total time to complete this project will be 4-5 hours spanning one work day. This trail work is a combined effort between ECGA, Dieselbikes, Sinister Bikes and North Shore NEMBA.

This will be a labor intensive day and tools will be provided for this work day. If you have your own personal tools you rather work with, feel free to bring them, but you are responsible for your own property.

Please e-mail (info@dieselbikes.com) if you need further information.

Had a great day digging dirt. Nice turnout and a good trail built. A 6 mile tour de Bruce was quite the eye opener. Walked a few sections. Rode over my head most of the day, man I love smooth granite.
