Hey everyone!

Finally figured out how to log in again (thanks, PK!) and wanted to send a shout out from LA!

'ssup?

Things are great here in the Southland. Not biking much, but keeping very busy and the city definitely keeps us on our toes. Crazy place. Living near the beach, and had a great local ski season (believe it or not) so life is pretty good.

Wondering if all my old budz from years ago are still on here! How's the riding?

Really miss the local NE trails, especially 'Nam. I don't think I could huck anything over 18 inches anymore, though, it's pathetic!

Hey Stranger!

Glad you figured out how to communicate with the real world again!
Awesome riding weather around here! The mosquitos are thriving though!

Hey Z!

Glad to hear all is well over there on the other coast.

I'm not riding nearly as much as I was when I met you that one time up at the Bear Brook BBQ when NEMBA was raising $$ for the Vietnam parcel purchase.

Cheers,

Mark

So we'll be in town just before the 4th of July. Not sure if we can bring our bikes, though, we'll see!

In the meantime, attached are two pics from our local "real" mountains. Real meaning over 10,000' (the closer ones are in the 3,000' range) Local, meaning 45 minutes to the trailhead to ride, 1:15 if you want to ski. The photos were taken end of March... hard to believe there was beautiful corn snow only a couple months ago!

I'm regularly blown away by how much terrain we have so close to 14 million people. The views are spectacular and there are tons of miles of trails. But you can see how steep the mtns are, which explains why some of us are either in really good shape (Pete), or really bad shape (me, because it's easier to be a couch potato than start every ride with a 2-hour climb)

Unfortunately, there isn't too much technical stuff. However, last Friday Pete scoped out a new killer ride close to our house that's 7 miles of downhill, technical bliss. I can hardly wait to check it out this weekend! Alas, I'll succumb to the temptation of shuttling... but don't hold it against me. This may just get me back into riding again.

Anyway, cheers! I miss you guys, the trees, rocks, and roots. (I don't miss the skeeters and rain.)

Z

PS - Darn, this forum doesn't really keep you in the loop when people reply, does it? I totally forgot to check for your responses.

Nice of you to stop by and tempt us with the photos, alas, I'm staying on this coast though...
