What's up fellow riders. I was wondering if anybody could recommend any good bike shops that specialize in (or have a bunch of) mountain biking gear.
I'm looking to pick up a helmet and some pads.
Let me know.
Cheers and ride safe.

Where exactly are you looking. There is JRA in Medford just west of Boston or Western Cycle in Danvers north of Boston. Both excellent shops with a knowledgeable staff.

I would recomend the Cycle Loft, Burlington Ma. Great staff and very supportive the MTB community.

Just FYI I've been looking for pads lately too, and have found it VERY hard to find a shop with pads in stock. Cycle Loft had by far the best selection in stock (Fox, 661, Troy Lee, Dainese, Race Face (I think)).
Belmont Wheelworks used to have some, but last I checked they had basically nothing. JRA hasn't had any in recent memory, but call them they get new stock all the time.

We (JRA) have a good selection of Troy Lee and Fox pads right now, as well as Full face helmets from Giro and Troy Lee.

to continue on the topic, any recommendations on shops south of Boston?
I live in Quincy, have been just for a month, so I'm not too familiar with the area yet.
What I'd really need at the moment is a shop that services Marzocchi forks and offers bike build services. I don't have my own tools here, and I'm getting a new bike shipped in which would need to be built as fast as possible =)
offtopic: an other option, that I'd highly appreciate, is if someone is willing to borrow tools that they own so that I could build the bike myself, this would include the additional pro of me getting to know some local riders too, which is always good when hunting for good riding spots etc =)
If there are any helpful souls out there just let me know!
Cheers
