Have a week off vacay in June and thinking of heading to maybe PA, NY, someplace within 8 hour drive - anyone know of a good central location to set up camp and ride for a few days? I've hit WV and NC a couple of times and enjoyed that. Love NE riding but do that regularly on day trips and weekends, so just looking for other stuff as I have 10 days off in a row!!!!

There is a great place to ride with some good camping near by. The ride is at Blue Marsh Lake in Reading Pa (about 90 minutes outside Philly) It is a 24 m ile loop with some great single track. Also there is a great brewpub/steakhouse about half an hour away called Stoudts http://www.stoudtsbeer.com/ Well worth the trip weather you like kind beer or not. Enjoy your time off no matter what you do!!!! It is so precious...

I don't know how it flies under thge radar, but PA has some of the best singletrack systems of any state--and they're all over (especially central PA!).. State College area has a tremendous amount of quality riding. They've got great access and great trail building folks out in PA. Check it out.
I also here that the greater Finger lake region of New York has some quality riding--though, I've never ridden it.

I agree about PA. You can hit the Jim Thorpe area first:

Some of the trails are on state game lands and may have limited access now. Check with the locals; I have not ridden there in a few years.
Then drive to central PA/State College area. Rothrock and Bald Eagle are supposed to be great.

No matter where you decide to go, post back here and let us know what you find.

Would agree with PA. Bald Eagle is some of the toughest most remote back country riding I have done. Jim Thrope is close by as well. Would also recommend a couple of days in RI - Acadia and Big River are sweet.

I rode at rothrock a few years ago and it was fun (SSWC)
I would probably drive a few hours, hit kingdom trails for a day or so, then head up to canada, i think mt tremblant or mt st anne might be cool. i just like quebec. or head to maine.
too many people and traffic as you head south
