go ahead. make braids on trails that have existed for years that are fine the way they are.

I promise I will work 10 times harder, 10 times longer, closing that braid. I have
nothing better to do. Undo one of my closures and I will go nuclear in the reclosing,
and also slap up a deer-cam to bust who-the-heck is messing things up...

If you can't ride it, walk it.

If you want a new trail then build a new trail, not a 20 foot go-round.
[huge new blowdowns, that no one is gonna remove, are an exception]

you know who you are

I ain't gonna say. no more publicity for this place. too many people use it now and ...well.... guess what happens when you start revealing things to people ? it gets ruined quick. good intent goes down the crapper.....

I hear ya, hogboy-just this morning while cleaning up one of our ice stormed trails at wendell, I spent a good bit of time closing up last years go-around braids.

I can't think of any reason you would NEED go 'rounds at that place. What are they going around for heaven's sake?

ha ! they made one really tight turn ....wider. GaHEY !

and one rock channel on a grunt, a go round ..for sallies I guess....
[I mean I am not superduper on some thngs and the place is already dumbed-down enough for me to ride
and the existing mini-go-rounds are all that is needed.]

CLOSED. and I will close them again and again if I have to....

luckily though... 3 closures I made in the last 2 years have been left alone.....I think
the message sticks...

I feel your pain. The same thing was happening at my local spot so I put up a couple of nice little signs (I know not everyone likes the idea of signs) kept closing the braids, and the braiding & sanitation dropped way down - still happens occasionally of course, but I spend more time riding & less time swearing now.

Maybe the culprit's one and the same as whoever built that lame straight-line shot northbound from the the gas/power lines. Somebody in the 'hood don't like to turn.

Big rocks help, and a small sign is a good thought too.

Tight turns are the Holy Grail for me. Do what it takes, Hogboy.

Been closing braids for years, it's always been a part of my "alone" rides, and for some reason there seems to be more then ever this spring...
2nd the BIG rocks thing...if they are available and you have help to budge them into the sally line, they usually stay.

Those signs are nice, they say all the right things, and they make me laugh out loud.

Set up land mines. They will never braid again...or ride.

Sallies and daisies are to blame. I am sure of it. Happens at every special spot I have ever ridden.

Braids have happened since the dawn of time. They suck, but not as bad as those who make them. If left to it's "natural evolution" any trail will become homogenized.

Hogg, I saw that new 'sally go-round' on the tight corner with the small tree in the apex (which was the intent) and it made me crazy. The rock grunt go-round drives me nuts too and even folks who shouldn't be using it have been using it.

There has been some muddy sections that are getting go-rounds. Those need to be fixed (the mud holes or trail re-route around them).

A few years back I was determined to stop the dumbing down of one of my favorite trails. I blocked one area five different times. Each time with more rock and downed tree limbs. Other parts of the trail were much more difficult and I could not see why someone wanted the easy go around at that spot. Funny, I'm sure it took less effort for the rider to just carry his bike over the section then stop and remove all the junk I put in his way. He won, I finally gave up. I did notice other areas of this trail were also getting go arounds built up. If you can't ride the section then walk it. I don't want to name the trail, but as a hint to those in the know, it's abbreviation matches a certain sandwich.

I like the idea of setting up deer cameras. You can then post the offender's picture online, kinda like a john who gets busted with a hooker. Not quite the same stigma attached with getting caught with a prostitute, but no one wants to be shamefully known as 'the braider'.
