Hey folks, time to strat getting geared up for the upcoming season. Here's to spread the word that the Petersham Fun Ride (efta version) is happening Saturday June 13th this year. I've been out cleaning out the ice storm debris and the trails will be ready to go. As usual there will be beginner, intermediate, and hero loops. New courses this year for the intermediates and heros. The hero bar has been raised, so be prepared to get a good dose of petersham singletrack. More info can be had at ridelong@charter.net
Happy Trails

Hey folks,
This will be an actual "fun ride" as opposed to the suffer fest that we usually host for the John Jenkins Memorial Ride. We're going to send folks off into some areas that they may not have been to before. Come on out.
Our trails managed to escape the more serious ice storm damage, ala Leominster State Forest. All are currently open. If you want a preview, we meet in the center of town at 5:00 on Wednesdays.

Keep an eye out at your local shop for flyers. I'll be trying to distribute them to as many as possible. If you don't see one and need directions or any other info just email me at ridelong@charter.net.

How do you guys do this? Do you mark the route or have someone lead a group?

Will there also be trailside watermelon service this time?
Pretty much saved my life last time I was there.

the fun ride will have courses marked for beginner , intermediate, and hero's. Beginner about 4-5 miles of mostly wooded doubletrack. Intermediate about 10-13 moderately technical singletrack and fast doubletrack. The hero loop will take good riders about 3.5 to 4 hours and will be technical singletrack and fast doubletrack with more emphasis on the singletrack. The hero loop this year will include trails such as the Ledges, Ballbuster, and Balancing Rock. Folks that have been to the JJMR will recognize these. Registration is open from 7:30 to 12:00 and the cost is $10 which goes to the John Jenkins Memorial Scholarship Fund.
PS- I don't think there will be watermelon, but you never know.

The trails are cleaned and ready to ride. If you want a preview of some of what petersham has to offer come on out wednesday evenings at 5. This is a social ride that gets quicker as people peel. Expect to ride till dark.

I have decided to come along for the advanced ride. Got a PM from GandALF about this. I have not ridden Petersham yet, but it sounds like pretty cool. Could someone let me know the time and where to meet? It's $10, right?

They're your legs... A friend did the Jenkins ride on a 9er SS rigid a couple years ago. About killed him, but he finished. He usually runs a really small gear though.

What a great day for the fun ride. Perfect weather and temps. The trails were pretty slick from all the rain, but we had a turnout of 50 riders and raised close to $700 for scholarships. A big thanks goes out to everybody who came and supported the ride. Hope to see you on the trails.

Nice job Chris ! The Hampshire County contingent had a blast! We know it takes a lot of work to put on a ride like this. Thanks to you and all who helped.*
