Hey gang,

Past PV-President George Willard will be leading a much needed trail work day at the Great DAR State Forest in Goshen, MA on Saturday meeting at 9:45am in the main parking lot by the lake (right off of rte 112 just up from rte 9). George sent out this general email:

Hi all, GW here.

As you may already know, ther DAR got hammered by the December ice storm. I'm planning to be there this Saturday, April 11, to begin this major clean up. Any help will be greatly appreciated. We'll meet at main parking lot at 9:45 a.m.

What to bring:
personal stuff...Work gloves, crappy clothes, good hiking boots ( it may be a bit wet ), eye protection,
food/water to last about 5 hours or so

Tools: heavy duty rake, folding saw, loppers ( I'll have a couple of chain saws

Feel free to bring a friend or 3.

Thanks,
George Willard

The west counties got blasted by the ice storm, this will be an important step in fixing them back up!

Hello Pioneer Valley,I know that we have a ton of trailwork ( as opposed to berm and jump buiding ) to do in the higher elevations of the PV. With that in mind, it would be really helpful if some of us in the lower PV, take a part of the day to help out at the D.A.R in Goshen, or the wonderful trails in Hawley and Wendell. Robinson State Park good use help as well. ( Steve Rossi can't do it all himself )Sure that's a bit out of the way for some , but our valley has a lot to offer for all levels of riders...So, without any further ado, or softcore ranting, I'm asking for more help in getting the areas that need it the most,* back into great riding shape. For any of us to want to pitch in, here's some folks to contact : Liam O'Brien, George Willard, Mark Coutemache, Steve Rossi, Meg Bilideau, Tom McCrumm, Harold Green.
Thanks, and ride safe,
GW

Wendell has a dedicated crew that is keeping it pretty clean-and while it needs a good spring sprucing at the moment, it is NOT at the same priority as Dubuque (hawley) and the DAR which suffered terribly during the ice storm and will need many days of many hands to bring them back to life. If you have time (this weekend or next or even during the week) I ask that you lend it towards the DAR or Dubuque clean-up.
