Try posting at MTBR in the NC forum. There's some really nice riding at Dupont and Pisgah forests, but not sure how far they are from Greensboro.

I lived in Greensboro, and/or Winston Salem, for 5 years. There is great riding in the area! Country Park is a good place to start and Owl's Roost and Reedy fork are some other nice trail networks. There is ~ 30+ miles of singletrack in Greensboro city limits, all of it accessible by bike paths iirc.

About 40 minutes west in Winston Salem is Hobby Park and Salem Lake. Hobby is a lung buster with an assload of climbing packed into a small park. Anopther nice spot, Tanglewood is located west of Winston and has some really fun fast ST as well.

Your best bet is to hook up with some locals. In Greensboro Cycles de Oro is the shop to visit. In Winston I'd swing by Paul's Schwinn and Mock Orange. I will echo the above and recommend asking around on the MTBR forum as well.

Greensboro's "NEMBA":

FWIW Tsali is ~ 2.5 hours or so west of Greensboro. Boone is ~ 2 hours away.
