Apparently I need to have my shock rebuilt. I was wondering if any could give me a ball park guestimate of what a rebuild costs before I go to my lbs?
Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
Sorry for not checking back sooner. I have a rear shock. Found one sight in canada that rebuilds them for $80 + shipping both ways. I was going to check out my LBS but haven't got that far yet. Have you had a shcok rebuilt professionally in the past? If so, where, how did you find them?
Thanks,
Steve

I don't have any experience with a rear shock, but there are plenty people here that do....

I think JRA rebuilt my air pike, over the winter, for around $40 - it needed an oil change and they gave all wear parts a general inspection.

It is going to depend on what work needs to be done. Basic service including seals should be somewhere between $60 and $80. It is money WELL SPENT. Running a dry shock, or one where water has mixed with the oil due to worn seals will cost you a LOT of money when you have to replace the whole SID.(The stanchions corrode).
So you are doing the wise thing to get it serviced early.
BTW, I just had my wrench create FRANKENSHOK.

The SID rear shocks are prone to stanchion wear. I just sent a SID rear out to Shockspital. Check them out...not super expensive and they are in the states so your shipping should be cheaper and quicker.
Shocksptial.com B-Rose the head dude there will help you out and he is super cool.
