Each time you come out you'll be entered to win a frame from Sinister Bikes!!

It's that time of year again! We, (the Vietnam Land Management Committee-VLMC) would like to invite you to join us for a new season of trail building. Each Tuesday evening from now until the Fall, we'll be out tweaking existing trails and trail features and adding some exciting new stuff for your riding pleasure. All are welcome and no special skills or tools are required.

We're starting Tuesday 4/7/09

Tuesday Night Trailwork Details:Meet at the top of the cell tower hill at 5:30 PM or whenever you can get there. (Check this space for cancellations and updates on exact work locations.) Some of us get there early and try to get a head start on some projects, so give a yell if you don't see anyone at the top as we may be down the trail a bit. Bring water, BUG SPRAY, and gloves. We have tools, but if you happen to have a McLeod, rock bar, or other favorite trail tool go ahead and bring it! We're done when the sun goes down.

If you have questions or want weekly updates and information on cancellations and exact work locations, please check this space or join our email list; email us at: VietnamTNT@googlegroups.com

Kevin, call Eammon if you're late. He's in charge tonight. I think the plan is to do some general cleanup and scope out what needs to be done as we progress.

Hey guys, new to the Forums and new to Vietnam. Can't seem to find a reliable set of directions to Vietnam anywhere. One post said it was because of land access issues given that you had to cross private land to get there and they didn't want to post directions through someone's private prop. Not sure if that's true or not buuuuuut...

I'd love to get in on the trail maint. and meet some people who ride.

Could someone post directions to the meet online?

Are there Vietnam trail maps anywhere?

Any help, Thanks!

The parking areas and trailhead are on my map below. I heard there is a new parking area off 16 but I'm not sure where it is yet.

There's no parking lot planned for Rte. 16. You used to be able to park at the old AAC and ride across 16 into the trails, but parking at the AAC is not really an option anymore.

There's a new lot, which is only ruffed in at this point and is not very freindly to cars that don't have good ground clearance on Adams Street in Holliston. It's scheduled for improvement/grading later this year.

Hey,

I'm new around this part of the world, but love mountain biking in all it's forms. I'd like to join in on the Vietnam activity and was just wondering where the cell tower hill is where you meet up on Tuesdays? Which trails lead there?

I'd appreciate the help and hope to join in next week.

Cheers.

Come on out, we'd love to have you.

Here's a map....http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=106551635076230914719.000439c8d8be030aa0548&z=16

We usually park in the industrial lot just North of the cell tower hill on Rt. 85 right near the road. Depending on what time you arrive it might be easier to wait in the lot for someone else to arrive and show you where we're working.

Feel free to PM or email me if you still have questions.

are you guys meeting up this coming tues, 9th?

same parking lot at which IF Rider told Rot Stewart to meet?

Would love to lend a hand and get to know some of the trials out there...

Do we need to bring tools and such? Or is that taken care of?

Thanks...

Recently we've been working on a stunt started a few years ago dubbed 'Frankie goes to Hollywood'. It's a large rock feature with 3 lines into a large transition. Until now, only the leftmost line, up and over the rock was open but we finished the other 2 and tabled and expanded the tranny. We'll probably tweak it a bit and maybe reroute the trail after it depending on how it rides......here are some pics.

This what it looked like after building it the first time. A lot of feedback was that it was too hard to get up on and scrubbed too much speed.

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/9440/dscf2699thumbzx0.jpg

So we added a ton of rock....

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/3530/frankie6sm.jpg

And built a monstrous onramp to accommodate multiple lines (and skill levels ;) )...

http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/5089/frankie2sm.jpg

Adding dirt....lot's of dirt.....

http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/9563/frankie1sm.jpg

And it's ready to ride....

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/1381/frankie3sm.jpg

Tonight's test pilot Steve...taking the middle, 'wallride' line....

As always, thanks to all the volunteers for their time and for doing all the heavy lifting.

Looking great guys, you'll be able to carry a metric azz load of speed through that now looks like with the option to cut low if ya want.

whats the good word for tonight?

We'll be out as usual unless it's pouring rain. We worked last week in the drizzle and it started to rain harder as we were finishing up.

A few updates:

The trail was widened to better accommodate the small trailgap on Rubber Stamp:

http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/4338/traily.jpg
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/9432/trail2n.jpg

The last 2 features were showing signs of over-use and needed new dirt.

First feature (before):

After:

Second feature (before):

After:

Finally, the turn after the second feature was pushed out slightly, and flows much better now:

Hopefully, moonsoon season ends soon, and we can actually ride it....
