I'm in. Not a regular to the scene, but those who know me can attest to my idiocy.

Looking to carpool from Somerville or GB area. I have been granted use of the Prius which has a sweet elcheapo bike rack to go with it. Can also drive to you in the truck and mooch a ride.

Is this a 80mm fork hard tail ride, or a 5" dually ride? ;) I only ask because Otis could be either...

Look forward to the first group ride of the season.

March 18th, 2009, 05:49 PM
More fun on a 5" dually or you could bring the 80mm and do out and backs all day.

In.

Now, should I go with 5.5" all-mountain Big-Box Bike style or a 48lb 8" travel cement-mixer look? Hmmmm...Decisions, decisions.... Maybe my hardtail with canti's and ti cranks and a one-piece spandex jump suit... Too many possibilities and too few functional brain cells. I think I need a nap...

BTW, The Gruitr is mandatory for Mr. Riding and don't even think of takin' out that 29er C.P.!!! And y'all better wear some full-facers and padding 'cause the hurtful comments are gonna be flyin'!

Dirtboy, take the girlie weight rig so you can keep up with DR. I hear he is running with roadie size tires on his guitar. Like...........what the heck has happened over the winter in my absence???? Girls on rides and lighter bikes and tires. I thought that chics were afraid to ride with us. I better return to get things back to normal.

So it's either this or trials riding in town (as poor at that as I am). I'm in (for this). And maybe some trials in town later if anybody's interested?

Rob... carpool?

Sounds like armor + full-face is probably a good idea, yes?

I know I deserve that! but I was joking about Daves mishap last week (he wore flip flops to drive down, then realised he had no bike shoes, and had to ride in a pair of borrowed sneakers)

Hey all. I will ride Sat morn. 930 to 11 or so. XC on my ss 29er. I am not that fast, but I do ride for an hour and a half without stopping much (or try to), unlike the full face helmet robocop crowd.

I have done lots of the stunts, but shy away from them when riding solo. partially for fear of getting hurt solo, and partially no one to egg me on!

I know otis well, so if you want to try to meet up, send me a PM or post to this thread.

cheers
see you all on sat. morn. I am the guy without the FS bike.

In terms of bike selection I think I have this ride pinned down: I'll be on a scandium/carbon mixed hardtail, 80mm fork lowered to 60mm, with purple cook bros. cranks. I've recently fitted my 230mm -5 degree stem to improve aerodymanics so you winter legged fatties better watch out, I'm coming to get ya.

Aixel, just look for a bunch of idiots with too much armor talking trash in the lot rather than actually riding. One of them might be riding in sandals rather than bike shoes.

In some seriousness, look for a fat guy riding a green turner in the back of a silver subie, that'll be me (Tyler). If you don't see me look for an old guy bitching about everything the guy in sandals does, that'll be Kranky Karl.

Jeez man, Way to make me look bad. Snot my fault you couldn't decide if you wanted to do a man's ride or stay in the city on a boy's bike.

Aixel, Add this to what Tyler said: Look for two old fat guys in a green 4 door wrangler. Well the passenger is old & fat. More old than fat. It's hard to tell with mr. Riding (yes, that IS his last name). He tends to '"layer".

I have three in my Blue CRV and can take one more. I'm coming from Sutton and swinging through Worcester and meeting at Wendy's at 8:30

Edit:
Oh wait, the last thread it said to meet at 8am at Wendy's. Or is it 8:15? In that case, Andrew, we will pick you up at 7:45am.

I'm just giving some people reference for where I'm located. It's my fault I can never make a decision (probably why I'm still single).

As for the boy's bike comment... just workin' on my skills to make it look easy. :devil

I did it twice rigid, once 6" FS. If I had to choose, I'd probably bring the rigid back next time. That being said, if everyone else is riding the drops, it's fun to play along :)

Sorry we missed you guys. I got a little screwed up with the date...OK I never actually paid any attention to the date and just went ahead and thought it was a Sunday ride. DOH!
We managed to find our way around with a little help from Longshanks (thank you).
Hopefully the trails up here will be drying out soon and I'll see some of you guys north of the city.

So what did you think of the Pivot AW???

Me likey Pivot. Just got back from returning it and talking about buying a 2009. I thought it weighed 26.5 lb, but I am told I was mistaken. It weighed in at 28.7. BUT - it climbed like a billy goat and felt solid on the twisty descents.
The only thing I didn't like about it was being afraid to dump it and not knowing how it was going to react on steep rolls, etc. Nothing about the bike itself. I probably would have tried those stunts on my 5 spot, but I wouldn't have made all the climbs.

Awesome... I love my Mach 5. I put a 10 degree stem and some riser bars on her.
Mine is around 27 lbs running tubeless and XTR. it does climb like its being pushed by a small motor. Glad you enjoyed it.

JRA is great if that is where you took it from. Everyone in the shop rides a lot.

You should be able to right-click on the link and save it to your desktop/wherever. Then in Google Earth just open the .gpx file from the File > Open menu option.

At least that's how I do it on my Mac.
