'Opening Day' for certain trails?

Hi all. I seem to recall that there are certain locations which don't 'officially' open for mountain biking until after a certain date. I always thought the Fells and/or Lynn fell into this category?

If true, is there a list of such locations and when they officially open for riding? Thanks.

I believe Lynn is open April 15 to December 31.

The DCR page for the Fells doesn't mention it being closed any particular time, but I've seen a couple of sources (NEMBA and fellsbiker.com) that say it's closed Jan 1 through April 15.

Regardless of the official closures, I found the Fells a muddy mess when I rode it a few days after 4/15 last year, and waited a good while to go back again.

Winter Closures - Most folks folks read this as Opened on 4/15
Lynn Woods
The Fells
Blue Hills
Cutler Park
There are other locations, but they are not popular biking locations.


Sometimes DCR South will open Blue Hills(and Cutler) before the 15th if the ground has dried.

FOMBA is typically closed during the muddy season and then reopened, there is usually a message on the website (http://fomba.org/).

I did an extensive search through the DCR pages this January and closure information is in a different spot for each location, sometimes it's listed on the map, sometimes it in the "Mountain Biking" page, sometimes it's on the main page.
