It's that time of year, finally! The snow is almost gone, and the weather is looking up.....for the first Trail Care Day of 2009! Being the first day means that we'll mostly be picking up all of winter's debris, removing/sawing deadfalls from the path, and doing some cutbacks. Some years we've been able to ride bikes and work as we go; this year it would probably be wise to walk the trails and/or carpool to locations that need more work.
Dress for the work and the weather. Gloves and eye protection(bike or landscaping stuff is usually good), sturdy footwear, hydration, snacks, your favorite trail tool--hand lopper, trailsaw, are the basics.
There will be some tools and work gloves provided if you need them. (Tools donations are needed too....Friends of Wompatuck is building a cache of tools to be kept on-site for these work days....)
Also, if you've been in the park lately, and have seen problem areas, please let me know, so we can get a work group there.

Should be a nice sunny day so I hope see some of you out there. Lunch will be provided as well. Remember that this is part of the Trek bikes/NEMBA trail care series for 2009. This means that all participants who sign the trail care waiver are entered into a drawing for a sweet Trek bike at the end of the season. The more times you participate, the greater your chances so come on out!
