My in laws live on Mt. Manadnock, may be up there in the near future and want to bring my mountain bike. Any good trails near Jaffrey worth riding? Appreciate any info. Will be there when it's warmer and no snow:) I am a member of TORC club down in Raleigh NC. If you are ever in need of info or a guide let me know.

Sorry, I don't. I try and stay off the roads. I only have AM-XC trail bikes. Great place to be a roadie though. Lots to ride around here.

Casalis State Forest on Rt 123 in Peterborough is near by. There are fire roads & single track, but nothing is signed, so it is always a bit of a 'fagawe ride.
There are also a number of trails on some town land down the road from Casalis. There seem to be a lot of the town land trails, but I've never really had the chance to explore. Those trails are marked.
I'm sure there is plenty more out that way, but the couple of times I asked at a local bike shop (now closed I believe) they were very tight lipped.

Pisgah is around 30 minutes away, but most of the trails are still rather wet, and not great for mountain biking. The best trail system around the area is Drummer Hill, in Keene. Tons of nice, techy singletrack, lots of hills, great riding. Enough stuff to keep you busy for a couple of days.
I work at Summers' Backcountry, on West St in Keene. We sell Drummer Hill maps for $3.95, they're nicely done and recently updated. I just rode at Drummer today, and it's in great shape! Stop in and pick up a map, and if it's between Weds and Sat, ask for Matt.

Also, there's a Tuesday night group ride from Norm's Ski & Bike Shop, also in Keene, a good bunch of guys who go out mountain biking. Check them out!

I'm alittle late to the dance but there is a fair amount of good riding within 60 minutes of Jaffrey but much of it is hard to find. Here's the list:
Milford, NH (Tucker Brook) - 30 minutes from Jaffrey
Amherst, NH (Halestine) - 45 minutes from Jaffrey
Greenfield, NH (no offical name that I know of)
Nashua, NH (Yudicky's) - about an hour away from Jaffrey
check out 603sports.com for info on the first two places. I believe there are maps posted somewhere on Bob's site

An hour from Jaffrey you can get to to lots of stuff. The trails I would recommend are FOMBA, Leominster, and Wendell. Check out my map below.

I second Drummer Hill... there is a lot to choose from and only 5 minutes from downtown Keene.

Thanks for all the info. I look forward to the trip in July. I got a Pivot Mach 5 that I am looking to have some fun with up there. Hope it's good weather this Summer.

Hey Matt,
I may look you up. Thanks for the information on the trails in Keene. My inlaws live in that house up on the Mountain on Manadnock over in Jaffrey. Transpo may be a problem because a lot of the family will be in town so closer is better. Does your store work on bikes????

Tank, I live in the Tucker Brook area and I wouldn't show a fellow Mach 5 rider around the place if you are looking for a guide. About 30-35 minutes away from where you will be staying.
Shoot me a PM if you need a tour.
FYI 603sports.com is the shop web site for Souhegan cycles (in Milford NH), they can wrench but they dont sell Pivot so if you need anything big done I would call ahead and make sure they can fix what you need to have done.

We do work on bikes. And by that, I really mean I work on bikes! I'm the bike tech. Stop in and say hey, I'm happy to draw you out a ride on the Drummer map, wrench on what needs wrenchin', and be of any assistance I can.
Do you mean to say your inlaws live in the Halfway House? If so, I'm trés jealous. I hike past it all the time!

Yep, They live in the Half Way house. My mother in laws family started D D Bean match factory up there, ect. That place is beautiful in the Summer but you couldn't pay me to live there in the Winter. My father in law tells me he is up all night plowing sometime to keep that road up to the house clear. I will stop by, also may ship bike to you. Do you have a number I can reach you??? Tank

MAch 5 may be a no go. I blew the rear triangle into 4 pieces the other day(carbon swing arm snapped as well). Bike shop is mailing it back to Pivot, they want to see my handy work. Hopefully I will get a new frame. I don't really jump it. Looks like the Blur LT will be coming or hopefullly a new Yeti 575 if I can get it toghther by then.

The shop's phone number is (603) 357-5107. Call up and ask for Matt, I'm the bike tech. No problem shipping the bike to us, people have done it before. I can re-assemble it for you, or we don't mind holding onto the package. (It'd make the bossman feel better about it if you bought a map or water bottle or something, though!)

No worries, probably have you put it together, buy a map and get some cliff shots from you. Thanks for the help. I'll call you.
