With these hubs, you will probably never need to rebuild them in your lifetime; however, I am posting the above link so that you can see the internals. They are beautiful. There may come a time when you want to change the style of axle, it is an easy swap.
Some of the nice features... Great seals, super precision cartridge bearings, and a great freehub mechanism. The freehub mechanism is what originally attracted me to the Hope Pro II. There are 4 pawls, equally spaced, and they all engage at the same time. The diameter of the freehub mechanism is large which makes it strong. The design is one that engages very quickly and is ideal for free ride where freehub engagement is critical when at the edge of a drop. The freehub mechanism is somewhat loud when coasting, but unlike Shimano, the pawls can be greased and still engage quickly. No tools are required to remove the freehub mechanism from the hub. If you want to hear one, search YouTube. If you want it louder, you can degrease it, maybe add some Triflow.
Although the hubshell is aluminum alloy, the engagement ring (teeth) for the freehub pawls is steel. The freehub body is aluminum alloy to keep the weight down.
