Family Movie Night to Focus on Enjoyment of the Area’s Open Spaces
The Groton Film Society and the NDO Mountain Biking Club will host a free, open-to-the-public, family oriented evening on Sunday September 14th at 6:00 PM at the Lawrence Academy Performing Arts Center featuring a mountain biking film and subsequent discussion on the appreciation of the multi-use conservation land in and around the Groton area.
The evening will feature the big screen area premiere of the movie “Seasons”. This film is the mountain biking cousin of the Warren Miller ski adventure films. It chronicles the adventures of seven of the sport's top athletes as they make their way through the course of one year of living to mountain bike. While the exceptional footage that captures their passion and daring exceeds anything us mere mortals can accomplish, their achievements inspire the same sense of "wow" experienced when watching the winning athletes in the recent Olympic Games.
While Seasons is not filmed in the area, it will serve as the launch pad for post-movie presentations and discussions on local mountain biking, as well as other outdoor activities made possible by the area’s abundant open spaces. The NDO (Nashoba Dirt Organization) Mountain Biking Club will lead the post-film discussion, and will be joined by members of the Groton Trails Committee. Topics will include:
• Mountain biking locations in the area
• Respect for our open spaces and multi-use trails
• Getting involved with trail maintenance initiatives
• Group and family rides
• Q&A on bikes and equipment
• Display of various types of mountain bikes
A reception before the movie is being planned that will feature pizza and displays by organizations involved with the event. Local sponsors include Nashoba Vision Associates of Groton (Dr. Michael O’Neil is an avid mountain biker), Gear Works Cyclery of Leominster, and New Harbor Financial Group, also of Leominster (co-owner John Llodra of Groton is also an avid mountain biker). Additional sponsors will be announced in the upcoming days.

Hope some of you can make it!!
