Hey guys- I'm taking my first KT trip in few weeks. I'm riding two days, the first day will be with my cousin on his first MTB ride, the second will be solo. I'll be riding my single speed 29er....

So, does anyone have trail/route recommendations for me on days one and two? My cousin's a pretty atheletic kid, so I'm anticapating a fast learning curve.

Thanks!

In addition to reponses you'll get here, the guys & gals at the KT HQ will highlight some routes for you when you buy your passes.

When are you going? There will be a large NEMBA contingency at KT over Labor day.

Have fun

Cool. I'll be out there the 25th - 28th. I have two weddings on two coasts over labor day weekend .

Who is going to be up at KT next weekend? MrsCouch and I are in. I'll be leading an advanced all day torture fest ride on Saturday on the SS bike (Darling Hill Am and the Mountain side in the PM). Would also be into some night riding if anyone is interested.

Yo Couch, I’ll be there, but have to admit I’m a little intimated by your idea of a “torture fest”… because it certainly will be! Didn’t you guys pedal up to the top of Burke on the SS once?... uugh, no thanks. Anyway I’m in for some riding, it’s easy enough to peel off and start Toddski’s “slacker fest” if the pace and mileage of the Couch tour gets out of hand.

I have always wanted to pedal up to the top around sunset, soak in the view and bomb down to camp. I’ll bring my light.

Should be a good time!

Just got back from riding there Thursday and Friday with my 13 year old - had a great time. The trails "below the campground" on Burke are open but the rest are not. We did Trillium / Magill Fields / Moose Alley as a shuttle; the latter was nice except for some muddy spots at the top. Our vote for "best flow" was Lower Pond Loop, with Webs and Dry Feet as close seconds.

Our thanks to the nice person from BMA who gave me a ride back up to the campground for the shuttle run, and we'd also like to give a big razz to the ladies who stopped in the middle of the switchback on East Branch (the one with the major drop if you miss it) and blew our line.
