Several websites show that the 2008 Nembafest is in Barnstable, MA.
Don't believe them.
It is STILL in Hingham. MA at Wompatuck State Park.

Where did they get Barnstable, MA from? Did anyone send them the correct info?

Forgot to ask last night; where will the beginner race loop cut off be this year? I'm guessing at the S19/Union St. intersection with beginners heading south on Union St.? Just curious, a few riders had expressed interest in pre-riding the beginner course which I was going to help them with.
Thanks!

We're super-psyched to have the opportunity to do BBQ at Nembafest, and really excited because Northeast Family Farms has offered to donate the pork we'll be cooking up for the BBQ sandwiches. More info here: http://www.northeastfamilyfarms.com/about.php
We've already received some of the meat and it looks (and cooks up) fantastic. Should be some excellent food for post-ride feasting.

Yes! We are really thrilled to have your 'Q coming to the 'fest!! Last year I made the trip up to Bradbury mostly to taste your famous flavors. I did have a great ride, too......and was handed a smokin' smoked kielbasa even before I got off the bike!!

The weather forcasters are saying that the "remains" of Tropical Storm Hanna could might come this way. What is the plan if Tropical Storm Hanna gives us trouble? BTW, Steve C, I sent you a PM.

I was wondering about this too. What gets postponed, the Fest or the race?

It would be a huge undertaking (and mostly not possible for many) to reschedule all of the various different industry and non industry partners, as well as local shop support/vendors, as well as all of the other things that need to come together in the days before the fest, so my guess is the fest would not have a post-poned date. PK can comment on this more, but I suspect that the only other option would be to turn one of the last MTBAdventure Series rides (http://www.mtbadventureseries.org/mtbadventure/Events.htm) into a big kahuna festival type event.....As for the race, I cant comment...

Unless there is a problem with the land manager and the course being too much of a mess, typically races are not postponed as there is no room to reschedule such a thing. Additionally, weather doesn't 'typically' cancel from what I have seen. That said, we did have a race shortened this summer due to severe thunder/lightening. The rain that accompanied it was not, however, of concern. This was a road race by the way.

I never even thought about it that way. If push comes to shove, the idea of a big kahuna festival type event sounds like an option to consider. I know it won't be an easy undertaking, but bad storms aren't a gentile issue either. Let's hope and pray to GOD that it won't come down to this. But, if my thoughts mean anything, I vote to leave that consideration open.

A couple years ago we rescheduled NEMBAfest due to flooding in the field at Wompy. NEMBA took a sizable hit financially for that. A little rain the day of the event will not be an issue. If they are forecasting hurricane level rains and wind by late Thursday/Friday, PK, the land manager, and a few others will have to have some conversations.

This event will not be cancelled. Forecast looks good until the PM.
Come on down!

I'm pretty psyched: got the whole outdoor kitchen rig in the trailer behind my car, taking up 2 parking spaces here at work: all my coworkers keep coming in to ask about the big weekend.
Gonna be a good time!

Hurricane Hanna will blow out to sea, leaving us with an overcast day, a few showers and a little breeze. A welcome change from last year's heat wave.
You heard it here first. I'm preparing for a new career as a TV weatherman.
Now get those fingers working and post up some more positive weather. The power of the human brain, especially working in multiples, is phenomenal. Couple that with the power of theinternet and Mother Nature doesn't stand a chance!
Didn't it work at Woodstock in the 60's?
No Rain!
