If you've every tried to find a "real" mountain bike for your child, and found nothing but 40-pound monstrosities with decorative shocks, you'll know why I built this bike for my daughter. She used it occasionally from age 9 to 12, but has now outgrown it. The bike is specifically set up for a small person - would probably fit people from about 4'6" to 5'1" or so. The Avalanche design has great standover clearance. This bike would also make a great bike for a smaller woman. Here's what you get:
GT Avalanche 12.5" frame, metallic electric green.
Marzocchi Z2 BAM
Avid BB7 (cable disc) front, Avid Arch Rival (rim brake) rear
Handbuilt (by me) wheels - Deore disc hubs, DT Competition spokes, Sun RhynoLite rims
I forget what tires are on it but they're almost new
STX-RC Rapidfire shifter pods (the ones with the gear indicator below the bar, out of harm's way)
ODI Ruffian lockons (good for small hands)
White Brothers 165mm cranks
Drivetrain is currently 2x7 with a Black Spire Ring God, but I have the original big ring if you want me to put it back on
Condition is excellent - not brand new, but still very sparkly and shiny, and certainly not something you'd be ashamed to give to a kid as a present. I will try to post a picture this evening. Everything works perfectly.
I am located in MetroWest, right near Mt. Pisgah in Berlin / Northboro if you know where that is.
Don't be afraid to make an offer - even at the asking price of $225 it would probably make more sense financially for me to break this bike down and reuse the components, but it has sentimental value and I'd like to pass it on to someone who'll enjoy it.
Thanks for looking!
