Back in 1999 I lived in Bethel, CT (in the Plumtree Heights townhouses to be exact)-I must have rode Collis P. Huntington's fine state park 3 times a week (and also Tarrywile--is that still a going concern??).. Back then it was mostly the double track around the ponds (and the few steep grinders), that steep hiking/ single track that went up through the laurels and down to one of the ponds, and a host of guerrilla single track off of dodgington rode-there was one old teeter totter and a number of fun features.

I understand that there has been ample singletrack expansion since 1999 (I haven't ridden it since then) and I'm looking forward to seeing how it has grown.

Should be a good event!

Hey paula,

how many miles of single track does huntington have now anyway?? Will the expert loop encompass all (most) of it?

I don't really know how many mile of singletrack. We just put another 5 miles of singletrack on the official map last year ( renegade trails). And there is a bunch more. The Rock -n-Roll trail is 1 mile long, but you don't ride fast on it. The expert loop is mostly singletrack and with a bit of the carriage road to get you to the next good trail. You'll ride on new stuff and old stuff. We've done some work on the old stuff, so it is probably a bit different from when you last rode there. I am working on the loops right now.

Sadly, I am going to miss it and I really, really, really wanted to go. I have to go to PA a day early (Sat) so no BBQ (and riding) for me. :(
