Hey guys- I just moved back to Boston after a 5 year hiatus abroad. While on the west coast, I picked up this nasty single speeding habit, and I'm wondering if there's any other riders in the area with this affliction who are looking to ride the Fells, HP, or some other cool spot I don't know about. I sold my FS geared ride in March, now riding a hard tail SS 29er exlusivley.
In Cali, SSer's are common and... appreciated. So far in Boston, it seems like other riders either think I'm crazy, retarded, or both ;).
I'm definetly not into hammer fest's, still trying to get my legs back after the winter. Let's ride!
PS I'd also be pumped to get the 411 on New Englands top SS spots outside of Greater Boston.

Ride around here long enough and you'll see plenty of SS bikes (and 29ers). They multiplied like rabbits at my usual riding spots (Foxboro, Big River etc..). I think almost everyone with a MTB was issued one this last winter.
As far as SS friendly spots that offer some "flow" are concerned you could check out Otis AFB on the Cape, Big River in RI, Hodges Village Dam in Oxford and F Gilbert Hills in Foxboro to an extent (conservation land trails moreso than the regular loop). That's about all I got. There's a cool trail along the Blackstone that I rode a few times, but I can't recall where exactly. I remember that it was fun on a SS. Maybe one of the riders from that area can chime in. There's not a ton of flowing "ribbon candy" type of trails around these parts. Of course, if you ride the SS long enough it's all pretty doable no matter where you ride.

The trail along the Blackstone you rode was probably Ribbon Candy. It starts at Plumbers Landing in Northbridge. Great flow and alot of run. It is only a few miles long but it can be linked to are other trails in the area.
Also in the area are Sutton Trails, Singletary, Rayburn, and Whitehall which all would be great for single speeding. North of Boston is FOMBA which is a bunch of fun. Here is a map (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=117185920061721465882.000440b7232e4fa786744&ll=42.307784,-71.062317&spn=1.543709,3.658447&t=p&z=9).

Hi Evil Chocula, welcome back, some of us in NH are into SS.
We even had a few "SS only" rides a few years back at different spots, which I am going to try and plan for this year.
Who is interested?

I would be up for a SS-only ride. Also I ride the Fells on a regular basis, and just started riding beddy, which is a great ride on the SS. Lemme know if you want to ride. It would be great to ride with other SS'ers.
