ok...not completely. but d*mn did he show me up a bit.
we took another ride today to Supply Pond. he seemed to really enjoy yesterday's ride. It was an incredible day so i figured why not.
the entrance to get into Supply Pond has the rollercoaster ride following the powerlines. and then you go into the woods and it's a deep descent that is edged up against a high cliff, and it's riddled with all sized rocks and covered in leaves. i NEVER ride it. I've tried a couple of times and at the very beginning i woos out. i start to slide and instead of just easing up on the breaks and going for it i opt to walk down.
well of course after yesterday's ride my son thinks he's the end-all-be-all to mtb and is invincible. so i tell him when we enter the woods that we have to walk down to get to the actually trail. but yesterday he saw some older kids riding down it, so today he starts arguing about why. and as we're arguing he's going a litte further a little further. finally i realized it was stupid for me to stop him from trying something that he was doing and that all i would be doing is putting my own fears in him. so i let him go. and sure enough he went down the whole way. a couple of times he would put his foot down and drag it a little to help with his balance. (something...in my defense...i can't do while sitting on my seat :p) it was awesome to watch...while i walked the rest of the way down. as i got closer to the bottom where he was waiting for me...he started explaining to me how i'm supposed to ride down. :o
the rest of the ride was great with him. the only thing i miss when riding with him is the ability to RIDE. to push myself and my endurance...to ride up inclines, try some of the more technical trails (purple and green are more technical for anyone visiting). i feel like i have to choose when riding whether it will be family time or my time. i don't seem to be able to have both in one.
anyhow...that's my ride report from today.
on a side note...there is a wild looking path that is across on the other side of the cliff where we come into the woods...if i ever find how to get on THAT path...that seems very intense. :fat:
