"In Connecticut we have them [bike lanes] in some places, but for the majority we don't," Guerrera said. "The DOT is starting to use them in more and more projects, but if we require them, in the long run, it'll be better for the state."
The bill would clarify the definition of a "safe distance" when a car passes a bike, by setting a minimum 3-foot buffer. While the DOT has pedestrian and bike access in its master plan, it could also require future expressway projects to include bike and walk paths.

It's in the long term plans, it's only about 40 miles. Have a New Haven- Simsbury overnight out and back planned for later in the summer. 50 miles each way, shouldn't be too bad.
