silly but even some of the language is new to me. so i did some research tonight and found this...

http://www.trails-edge.com/bikedic.htm

Superman n. A rider who flies over the handlebars and doesn't hit the ground for a long time. This may result in injury, but when it doesn't, it's really funny for everyone else

it got me thinking...are there any good sites to find "how to" videos..anything from the basic stuff like bunny hopping to jumping man made jumps.

Decline dot com has a great series on their website. Also, Lopes book, Mastering Mountain Bike Skills is pretty much the bible. Good luck

Believe it or not, youtube, has a lot of short clips showing how to do a lot of basic skills.

Here's an example (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+bunnyhop+a+bike&search_type=). I just put in 'how to bunnyhop a bike' and got several hits.

Here's another one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXc1_UF6xXg) from bikeskills.com, showing how to do a small jump.

Thanks everyone. i have to say...as a noob to riding, but not a noob to mtnb forums...you guys are GREAT. this has become the ONE place i feel like i can ask my noob questions, and share my "simple" rides without the fear of verbal, testosterone-riddled belligerence.

keep the video suggestions coming. they're just what i need.

I would second the Brian Lopes bike book. Covers everything from beginner to advanced. Also would recomend some NEMBA rides. Most people are glad to help.

Check out the "Freeride Fundamentals" DVD by West Coast Style. And, while you're buying DVD's, don't forget to pick up ROAM and The Collective.

dirtmag put out how to dvd is as well. Its geared more towards downhill/racing but its still good. It might be a bonus on one of the earthed dvd's but not sure
