Hi folks,

I've ridden in all six of our New England states and I'd like to know what you consider to be the best trail or riding area in your state. I'd like to see if I can hit as many of them as I can this summer.

I'll start by saying my favorite is in my backyard, Petersham, MA

Bigelow Hollow in Union, CT is my favorite. Its got some incredibly technical parts, but mostly I like it because its such a beautiful park (free tours available). Middlesex in Middletown, CT is a close second mostly for the technical stuff, and all the incredible granite riding.

Favorite single stretch of trail in W Mass? - I might have to say the Robert Frost from Wendell to Leverett. Not bike specific, not built by NEMBA, but just a beautiful couple of miles up and over the top of the world.

Favorite riding areas in MA from west to east?

Pittsfield State Forest
Dubuque State Forest
Wendell State Forest
Petersham (as guided by Alf and crew)

MA

Favorite Location, Borderland. Specific Trail, the Ridge Trail

Favorite single trail in MA might be the Big Ring Trail(exiting to the parking lot) at the Trail of Tears on the Cape.

I was also really starting to like TNT in Vietnam towards the end of last year. Can't wait for the rest of the improvements to get put into that trail!!!

My favorite has to be the yellow arrow trail in Wrentham State Forest. It is the perfect cross between Foxboro and Borderland. Technical and rolling without the death climbs. Crazy too because there no one is ever out there.

Hey Harold,

Maybe we could make this into some kind of friendly NEMBA contest. Have the riders from each state vote on their favorite trail by a certain date and then give some kind of Swag to the first rider to hit all six areas. Maybe it could be a fund raiser or just "fun raiser".

Favorite Trails:

1. Missing Persons (done in the uphill and manly direction) at B-Street

2. The Hannah Swarton's Remove: Wendell

3.The Ring Trail: Near Charlemont:

4. The Apollo Trail-Mt Baldy-Lenox

5. The Rim Trail-Mt. Sugarloaf in Deerfield, MA

Favorite Riding Areas-In no particular Order

Kennedy Park/ Yokun Ridge-Lenox

Wendell SF-with the full figure 8 thrown in (that is the Frost and the M&M-south of Montague Rd).

Batchelor St and Earl's (Holyoke and Skinner SF)-C'mon, there isn't a more diverse or more plentiful collection of singletrack in all of New England (and Yeah, that includes KT)-anyone who's burnt on Batchelor and Earl's is just too cool for school.

For NH

I'm kinda partial to FOMBA - Lady Slipper, it was the first trail built and its undergone some significant changes in the last 10 years, but still my favorite.

Runner up is Bear Brook - Carr Ridge Trail, there's lots of fanastic trails there but this one is a classic for me.

Fort Rock - BLT and Pawtuckaway - Woranoco also deserve mentioning.

I'd say Harold Parker since I live nearby. It's very well laid out and also has Berry Pond beach. It's not big, but it's a nice place to swim and picnic.

otis in MA. great trails that i can ride to from my house. i have a favorite loop: out over watchtower, down debbie's mounds, then up over zig, heaven's gate and back.

i sometimes go other places, but they never seem worth the drive unless i head up north out of MA.

i love the VT50 trails.

The Tower Trail at Sunday River might have to be top of my list. To paraphrase a rider on Bustedspoke, you really feel like you rode your bike down a mountain after that one. :D

Been to Wendell once and all I can think about is going back there so I must have liked it.

That place was ok...

So many places to ride with great technical features though. As the old bull once said to the young bull:

"Let's walk down there, and ride em all."
