Run at least two versions of virus scan software. Soon.

Use this, too. http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007-Free/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5
Spyware could easily cause those problems, and not all virus removal software is going to pick it off. From personal experience, neither Norton nor McAfee do a very good job removing spyware. Adware is a good product, and the free version works great.

Yes, I'm having a lot of problems. I have minimized some of the problems by stopping as best as I can my Norton 360 application.
But explorer still seems to halt from time to time. Something is also causing me issues on different wireless networks. I get connectivity for about 10 seconds and then I get a message that there's an issue with the network.
I'm thinking of switching to Firefox.

Hey DvRider, it sounds like I'm in the same boat as you. I checked for spyware and just about everything else as Mr Cheese and Slider suggested but found almost nothing problematic. I am now thinking that it is just how IE7 behaves in some systems. What I failed to mention is that this "issue" doesn't show its ugly head often. But, when it does, it's a very rough ride. BTW, I also have Firefox and except for a few (and very far between) "stall outs", it's been fine. I ended up using it last night.
As of today, now IE7 is running fine, so I am stumped as to what happenned.

I'm thinking of switching to Firefox.
Or switching back to IE6. I tried IE7 about 6 months ago for about a day and then un-installed it back to IE6. I was getting some weird stuff that I wasn't seeing with IE6. My company had us all load a patch that prevents IE7 from getting loaded on our computers.

Ahh, haven't heard or tried Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/landing/better/?utm_content=0705features&utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=0507lndgpgtest&gclid=CKWimambl5ACFQIQFQodBjmq8A) huh?
Get it and forget IE, it's free, much better way to surf the net IMHO.

We always ran two spyware programs... Go to download.com
and download Ad-Aware and Spybot (They are free). Install them, and make sure you run their updates, to update their definitions. When finished scanning allow them to remove whatever they find.... hope that helps...may try Defragmenting afterwards also.

WHEN IS SOMBODY GOING TO FINALLY COME OUT WITH SOMETHING THAT TRULY QUALIFIES AS RELIABLE AND HEADACHE_LESS? Anyways, thanks for all the help folks. I'll look into your suggestions. I can see that I am not alone with browser "issues".

I continue to have problems. I've narrowed it down to only when I lose connectivety from my router.(i.e. when I start my laptop up). I think IE7 must be doing some sort of software load or virus scan. If I kill the session and then launch the browser again, I have no problems.
It's similar to those of my friends that have comcast and everytime you launch the browser, comcast goes through some ridiculous download/authentication process.
Hopefully it will get better, but I'm going to download Firefox until then.

Firefox aficionados,
Do any of you share my problem w/ Firefox and the Acrobat browser plug-in? Occasionally/often the browser hangs or a message is returned that the file is corrupted. Not always, but when it happens it's a big waste of time. IE normally opens these pages successfully and displays them. IEView is helpful unless Firefox hangs. Any insight or fixes?
