I had an exceptional weekend, four days, six rides. Ok, not all epics, but all good rides. As if I didn't have enough already to be thankful for, here's six more things! For whatever reason I didn't bring the camera on many of these rides, but I did pull it out during the last two.

Probably the only thing significant on the first rides was meeting two Steves from Westchester NY at Case on Friday. They had found the place on the 'net, but had no idea where to ride. We had them follow us for an hour or so - man the daylight sure is short right now. I was intent on getting them back to their car before dark (and us to ours as well). We hammered along and made it back in plenty of time. I don't think they're on this board, but I hope you guys had fun on that little tour. We rode down blue, down blue/red to the bridge, then up Fern, and down slickrock before letting them go at their own pace to get back to their car. I had a blast. I rarely ride slick rock down, always a blast and with those massive dry leaf wells, there was a lot to keep your interest.

Today I had the pleasure of doing two rides. In the morning we rode Shenipsit for almost 3 hours at a more relaxed pace. A few months ago LRR and I would ride Shenipsit exclusively, now we're riding Case more often. LRR has improved drastically since the last Shenipsit ride, she did 3 or 4 things today that she had not done in the past (some rollers, some climbs). I caught only one pic, of Jyeich who we happened upon at the bottom of Home Depot. He tagged along with us for a bit and we showed him the goods at the Snip. Snip at a relaxed pace is ok, you have to hammer that place to make it really fun. At speed there are so many launch opportunities its a bit scary.

Jyeich on Cheesecake - he rode it like a pro - skids and all:

Then this afternoon I hooked up with Slider for our usual Sunday ride. We got a bit mixed up on time and I ended up doing 45 minutes solo before he showed up. All good though. I know I posted up pics from the shores of Mashapaug a few weeks ago - today's light was really nice so I couldn't resist taking a few more:

Slider caught a nice one - most of the leaves are down now so there's some good filtering going on:

Unfortunately the ride did not end so well with Slider taking an incredible line down this steep roller and making it, only to be up-ended by a ramp rock a bit past the end of the roller. He flipped up, looped over and landed on the top of the rock a$$ first. Honestly it looked like he had been tasered as he writhed around on the ground in pain, while I stood there feeling like the guy who pulled the trigger (I was leading). Luckily it was only a few minutes of riding from there to the car - he said he's ok after massive doses of vitamin I, but I'll bet sitting in a chair will not be pleasant for a few days. This is the spot (though this pic is me and from a different day). Slider took a hard left over the side just ahead of where I am rather than riding down to the end. Of course its STIL.

I tried the couch/ice/aspirin/scotch routine, hoping to make it until the Pats game started. No go. My ass swelled up like a basketball, and I almost passed out from pain trying to stand. Off for another five hour ER epic, but once the morphine hit, it was worth it. And they had a little flat screen TV on an arm in the room. I saw 100% of the game. Percs will get me through the next few days, I hope.

My poor wife at least brought a book. Pretty much what we'd have done at home, Pats and a book. Not quite the same, though.
