I'm sure there are alpine, freeheel, XC skiers, and some boarders on NEMBA. Any of you know of any good snowsports forums/message boards, especially for the NE? Single planker here, with some XC skiing and shoeing thrown in. Looking to try some back country stuff this winter, maybe try alpine or freeheel too.

I've thought about that. I've always watched the guys and gals on carving/racing boards and admired their turns. I definietly get a kick out of pulling turns with my barn door (I'm heavy and have big feet) and progressed a bit last year on ripping turns. The reason I think I'm staying away for now at least is I'm still improving my high speed skills (even after 10+ years) and I really like riding in glades and trees so a freeride board is the weapon of choice for me right now.

What you said about laying a high g turn applies to me for MTBing too, it's a great feeling.
