I sent an email. Turning park land into a parking lot feels like an insult to all the work put into this park.

Not only is it an insult to the work people have put in but it is taking our land (tax-payers) and giving it to an individual. For more insight on how this scheme was hatched in the first place, check article in todays Globe. I urge others to write Sec. Bowles.

http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2007/11/22/land_swap_at_blue_hills_is_criticized/

"Introduced by Brian Joyce, a Milton Democrat who represents Randolph, the bill to transfer land to the Lantana was considered without a public hearing and approved in the early morning hours of the final session of the Legislature in August 2002."

"Lantana owner Paul Hart wants the land to build a safer 'overflow' parking area at his landmark function hall, so patrons would not need to cross Scanlon Street to enter."

Put in a crosswalk and a stop light. That's better than a new parking lot!

Thanks Rich and Mongoose!

so many decisions are made in the early morning hours, behind closed doors, without public review...

The Friends of the Blue Hills are to be commended for outing this bad deal.

There's still time to send letters to Ian Bowles. Let him know that people are watching, and that every decision does not have to favor businessmen...

Just pave it, and skip the environmental study, it will be quick and painless.
