Went to Hodges last night and had a nice and fast ~9mi ride, and was heading back to the top parking lot. For anyone that's familiar with the area, there's an old semi-paved road that connects to Rocky Hill Rd, and little clearing which used to be a baseball field long ago.
I could smell a campfire for quite a while on the trails which I didn't think much of it, then right as I got to that field, saw a small sized fire off on the side in the woods - maybe an area 25'x25'. Mostly brush, but several small trees up in flames.
Luckily I had seen some people just a few mins prior walking their dog on the doubletrack that also leads to Rocky Hill, and flew back to get them so we could call the fire dept (I know it's Rocky Hill Rd, but beyond that have no clue on the roads in the area, figured they lived nearby).
Police and Fire arrived quickly, and as I headed back over, another 2 mtn bikers were there trying to put out the fire the best they could.
Glad myself and the other 2 mtn bikers were there, who knows how far that could have went otherwise.
You'll see the spot if you ride through there.
