There's hearing in Arlington tonight to discuss whether the Minuteman bike path should be plowed in the winter. It should! Riding on Mass ave sucks. Word is, there's a lot of opposition, so if you can lend a voice at the meeting, it would help.
Here's the 411 on the meeting and other ways you can help.

What's the opposition's argument to not plowing it?

Here are some:

Personally, I can't think of a good reason not to. Then again, I ride it to get to work most days except when it's covered with snow. Even with big fat studded tires, it's unpassable after more than a few inches of snowfall.

I agree, plow it! It's always a mess of frozen footprints and basically useless for everyone after it snows.

I've always wondered why the cheap bahstads won't plow it (or better yet snowblow it). They would only need to do 1/2 of it, and dump the snow onto the other half. Then X-C skiers could set a track and the walkers wouldn't feel the need to the post-hole the ski track (as they'd have clear path the other side).

awww come on ! the best part of the year is trying to navigate frozen slush post holes or 5 inches of new cruft on the old cruft and seeing how far you can go.
nothing burns more calories, except bear wrestling

I say why not, dcr plows the Paul Dudley White bike path along the Charles...at least last I checked, they did.
...course we could always get this guy (http://www-bdnew.fnal.gov/pbar/organizationalchart/peterson/snowplow_files/Bike_Plow.html#Something_faster_is_needed_) to take care of the path...:p
