Two days ago, I just learned the Mayor Thomas Menino wants to try to make Boston a better city to cycle in (a cycling mecca, as one reporter referred to it). I think Mayor Menino is onto something big here. I frequently ride around the Boston area and have seen some good changes. For example, Cambridge, as of some years ago, has bike lanes along with a very BIG cycling population. Memorial Drive is closed off to car traffic on Sundays for part of the year (which I did not know until recently and commentted elsewhere here in the forums).
I am still trying to take in this "breaking news" story (and trying to sort out my thoughts on this), but being a frequent Boston cyclist, I hope that his idea turns into a major reallity. I feel that this situation bears watching. If you get word of anthing else on this issue, please post your findings (and also your thoughts) here. This could get very interesting, but I am hoping and praying for a true success story here.
