Rode the North South trail in RI on Saturday with a friend. Thought I'd post the recap link here for those who might be interested in doing it. It's really cool, even with the road sections. It passes through so many different terrains, from super rocky singletrack to fire road to country farm roads. Anyways:

I wanna do the Midstate Trail next in Mass. Anybody ridden that?

Nice death march! Good pics - it almost looked like Rocky might be enjoying himself.
The northern part of the mid state is very rideable. I've done parts of the central and heard that there's plenty of hiking. The whole trail is 92 miles and like the North South, you'll likely have some navigation issues. I've also had some yahoo shoot at me, but I guess that just adds to the experience. Good luck.

Way cool ride. I have been contemplating the mid state for a few years now. I have ridden all the legal sections from the mid point north (using the road to connect each section). I have also ridden the southern end of the mid state. The Spencer, Charlton Oxford section I have yet to see. I figured it would be a good 2 day ride (there is a campground very close to the middle). Given how hard some of the riding is it would be tough for most mortals to bang it out in a day. I would love to do the midstate from the 1/2 way to the RI border this fall. Mid october would work for me.

The midstate is right out my door (in Westminster, a bit north of Mt Wachusett). If you guys ever need any local info or logistical support for an end-to-end ride let me know. Be happy to shuttle some camping gear or set up a food/water drop, etc for you.
We keep talking about doing the whole thing too, but seems the most we ever end up putting together every year is Watatic-Wachusett.

I'm down for an attempt anytime. Setting up cars and such is certainly easier with a couple other folks. The Midstate then connects to the Wapack in NH, right? Is that rideable? NH to the Atlantic...Hmmm...mega epic?

Nice report! Also, nice Highland jersey!!! The zipper broke on mine and they don't make it anymore, wish I could get their St Theresa's or the ale up here... :(

Nice. The section North of Buck Hill Road is even rockier than the trails in Douglas SF.

It turns into the Wapack trail at that point - officially off-limits to bikes per their website. We started at Temple Mt and headed south towards Watatic (before we knew this) one really hot tho - tough, but really cool, with some hike-a-bike, much like the northern midstate.
Once you get as far east as say Manchester/Auburn, it's easy to get to da ocean. :rad:
