Vernon 2 Vernon participants

I just wanted to send out a quick note to those who have not heard about the status of this years V2V ride. Deb Poudrier, who has organized this event in the past has moved to a new job which has left her no spare time to organize the V2V in 2007. As a result, this year’s event, which is scheduled for this weekend (September 16), will be run as a traditional ride, leaving from and returning to Vernon Cycle.

The ride will be a choice of 40, 80 and 100 mile rides, using a portion of the V2V route. Since there is no need for transportation of riders and bikes to Vermont, the entry fee will be $25 and an item of non-perishable food. Any other donations are appreciated as well, such as clothing, toys, etc. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Cornerstone Foundation, http://www.cornerstone-rockville.org/index.html, (Vernon’s food pantry) and the Keith Berger Memorial Fund. Rest stops will be provided as well as Sag support and helper riders riding along on the ride as in the past. Riders can sign up the morning of the event, or on www.BikeReg.com if you want to use a credit card as in the past. Online signup will begin Tuesday afternoon (http://www.BikeReg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=5334 ). Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. the day of the event. On site registration is cash or check only.

The route will run from Vernon through Tolland, Coventry, Ellington, Stafford, Connecticut, as well as Wales, Monson, Hampden, Wilbraham, Mass. For the 80 and 100 mile rides.

I realize this is a last minute update to the event, and we plan to put on the traditional V2V next year, as well as utilizing some or all of the new routes as well.

If possible, drop us a line at VernonCycle@msn.com if you are going to register the morning of the ride so we can get an idea of how many people to expect.

Hope to see you there,
Geoff @ Vernon Cycle

I am new to both the forum and mountain biking. I have been browsing the site for a while and I was not able to find the place where I can post a new message. I am interested in finding some othere mountain bikining beginers to find ride partners. I live in downtown Boston. Can you please direct me to the right place where I can post a message about this?

Thank you
