OK to bring the dog on this one?

How about the girlfriend? :-)

boudy,

I'll be the one leading the ride. The pace will be pretty mellow on some fairly technical terrain but nothing too crazy. So, anyone who can ride a fair bit is welcome.

I'd have to say no to the dog, though. At least for this ride. I don't really know how other riders might feel about that.

Hope to see you Saturday, I'll be on the orange mongoose.

Kris

It sounds like you're planning on linking together some of the highlights at Batchelor St.; would you say it's worth the drive from the Bostonish area? I've done it once before to ride there and enjoyed it even if I got lost but would be interested in learning how to link a good loop at Mt. H.

skunkty14,

I think it's ride but the ride itself will be fairly short, probably 2 hours or so. I've got to be available for work at around noon that day so my time is limited.

If this ride goes well and there is enough interest, I plan on setting up a ride that will be a good sample of Batchelor St. and Earle's for the 22nd. This will be a longer ride involving the more flowy trails on the northwest side of the Notch as well as the rocky techier stuff of Batchelor.

So, you're call...

Hey Kris,

My girl and I ride up there regularly. We either do IMBA to Rollercoaster or Far East to Twister. We both ride silver 29ers, mine is a Niner, hers is Fisher.

Thanks for the info kris. I think I'll hold out for a longer ride if I'm going to make the drive out there. I'll keep an eye out here if you do go ahead with your plan for the 22nd.

The route I was thinking about is IMBA to Pond to Jacobs Ladder to Raptor up Tech to Lizard King then down Upper Access to Twister then Back up IMBA to Rollercoaster.

This is not set in stone at all. I'd rather ride with more people than alienate anyone by choosing harder terrain (although I don't think this ride is too tough). We can talk about it on Sat. morning.

Looks like there is a pretty good chance of rain for Saturday morning. If it's just showery, I'll ride. If it's more of a sustained event, I'll cancel and move the ride to next Saturday 9/22.

If you need to contact me about whether the ride is on or not, I can be reached at 413 454 8423.

This is a link to a mapquest map. Most likely you will be turning off of Amherst Rd. on to Batchelor. You will go under a set of power lines, continue down the road a little bit and the dirt parking lot is on your left. There will be a number of cars with bike racks... you can't miss it.

Rain is real spotty and light and the band of showers should be moving out around the time we start...

Ride on.

did this ride go off as planned--it would've been a super slippery morning at batchelor st.

It did. I missed one person in the lot by taking off only 5 minutes late. The two other riders that showed were youngsters (that makes me sound really old!) and brothers from Easthampton. We had fun and they had a good laugh when I toppled off a rock on Lizard King and down a bit of a slope.

See new thread...
