Wondering what folks are using to cut NEMBA on their bridges? Any experience with the TurnLock Router SignCrafter that's available from Rockler and Woodcraft?

We are looking to add some directional signs at Harold Parker SF. From a cost and appearance standpoint, wooden signs have some appeal. Looking for suggestions about what has worked for you.

Freehand router has done the job in many cases. Don't even know if there is a template.

You guys label your bridges? Why?

Why silly, it is in case they get lost, people will know who to return them to!

Seriously, it is so the organization gets credit for our work and also so that people may consider joining if they see we are an active group doing good work.

I have thrown this one out here before but a really cheap and easy way to badge a bridge is to slap on a nemba sticker (like the kind you get when you sign up). I've had one on a bridge for almost three years and it still looks good.

one of our chapters members made a router template that we use for bridges. It works great and we get some publicity. It reminds trail users that these bridges didn't just sprout from the ground one day.

I can see if it possible to make additional templates.

You know-I was looking at that very sticker on the the green trail just yesterday !

Seriously, it was the routered 'nemba' on the DAR bridges that got me to join the club-it's a great idea!

Going back to my original question, I guess I will buy the Turnlock sign making system and see how it goes. It's not too costly. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=11139

I'm really focused on directional signs. I missed the Bradbury MBAS ride, but heard they had some nice map placards at intersections. That might be a good approach at Harold Parker. Any idea of the way those were produced?

I can have some more "NEMBA" router templates made. I will be sending an email to the chapter officers soon, asking who wants one. Contact your chapter president and let them know you want one.

DSDan, thanks for the link. I think I'll get one too. Signage is what we lack the most here.
