It's over, Johnny.

Any thoughts? I think many, if not most, fans will harbor feeling of dissatisfaction with the way it ended on a decidedly anticlimactic note. I was the only person that I knew who was predicting beforehand that it's exactly how it would end. Going back to pretty much every other season ending episode, and its seasonal penultimate, it always ended with the same theme: Ok, shite happened, but life goes on.

Personally, I like the way Sopranos ended. A) It went against the majority of expextations; and B) it leaves open the possibility that there could be a major motion picture down the line. Not that I expect there to be one, but killing off the lead character would have pretty much put the kaibosh on the possibility.

Don't get me wrong, I also wanted there to be lots of violence and mayhem, and there was in the previous episode. And it's not as if the suspense in the finale was so unbelievably palpable. But once it was over (and I was sure that cable didn't suddenly go out at the worst possible time like all of America), I felt an enormous sense of relief. Life goes on.

That was my reaction as well. VERY happy Tony lived....I though the use of imagery throughout was VERY cool....the classic music, the constant references etc...There were hard times before and folks made it through....there will be hard times again...Loved it.

I started catching on to the ending when Meadow was going in for parking attempt # 3. I thought "why have something so mundane at such a crucial time?" and that's when it hit me that they were going to end it with the "life goes on" theme.
AJ's plotline was getting annoying, but I like how they tied it up - his "world is so f-ed up" mentality paid off neatly with the M3. Bit of a social commentary there I think.

I would love to see AJ in 5 to 10 years. Guaranteed he's still a f-up with no aim and even less ambition, a continued embarrassment to Tony. Meadow the exact opposite. Could she become the official family consigliari, or was all of that talk of anti-Italian discrimination just a line to appease the sensibilities of dad? Carmela... well, she'll still be nothing more than the angst-filled mafia wife who cannot seem to give up the grand lifestyle for saving her mortal soul.

Yeah, AJ is going nowhere.

The anti-Italian discrimination line from Meadow was pretty funny. I don't think she could be the consigliari, though. If anything, I could see her becoming a prosecutor and having to decide between going after Tony or not.

Carmela came so close to getting out from under Tony - the separation, building that house, etc. I actually liked those few episodes because Falco's acting was so good.
