It's over, Johnny.
Any thoughts? I think many, if not most, fans will harbor feeling of dissatisfaction with the way it ended on a decidedly anticlimactic note. I was the only person that I knew who was predicting beforehand that it's exactly how it would end. Going back to pretty much every other season ending episode, and its seasonal penultimate, it always ended with the same theme: Ok, shite happened, but life goes on.
Personally, I like the way Sopranos ended. A) It went against the majority of expextations; and B) it leaves open the possibility that there could be a major motion picture down the line. Not that I expect there to be one, but killing off the lead character would have pretty much put the kaibosh on the possibility.
Don't get me wrong, I also wanted there to be lots of violence and mayhem, and there was in the previous episode. And it's not as if the suspense in the finale was so unbelievably palpable. But once it was over (and I was sure that cable didn't suddenly go out at the worst possible time like all of America), I felt an enormous sense of relief. Life goes on.
