Check it out, this sounds really cool. Some of the pics didn't load but from I can see it looks like an East Coast style 29er - higher BB, short stays long(ish) but not super long TT.

Anyone know if Frank needs a test rider?? ;)

Thx for the Sinister forum link. Looks pretty cool - I almost couldn't register due to the security feature and some slight color blindness issues. Took about 5 trys. I couldn't see ~ 1/2 of the characters in the anti spam filter. I could never fly an airplane I guess....

bdee,
Originally there were only supposed to be 2 frames...Darrell and I convinced Frank there would need to be more than just our two protos....So now there are six total...all but one are spoken for...if you're interested in one drop me a PM or an email thebrickboy@gmail.com
How tall/inseam etc are you? All six proto's are (not so coincedentally) Darrell's and my own size...17/medium-ish. I can email you a CAD of the geometry if you'd like as well.
Here are the actual pics.

So where does the rear wheel fit into the 'modular dropouts'?

Just like on the mustang...and you can also pop on the Horizontal drops, or the newer adjustable style FTW designed for this.

Are there plans to build frames smaller than a 17/med? East coast and 13-15 in frame is just what the doctor ordered!

This looks right up my alley...What fork (A to C) is it designed around?

Too bad you did make a L or XL proto. I know that you would have had several willing testers including myself, bdee, CP, AOF....
I am interested in the short chainstays. I had a Karate Monkey for a short time and I realy liked the way the bike climbed steep technical stuff, I'm pretty sure it had to do with the shortish chainstays.

Originally it was just meant to be two frames and they were based on Darrell and I, hence the sizing.
The frame was based on my 4" Reba (A to C-wise).
Dan (AOF) will likely spend a while on mine regardless LOL.

Hell Yeah, like a trials 29er.
AA-I was a bit disappointed when I found out they were only making them in oompa loompa sizes too.

Hold on boys. These frames are just prototypes. We are just testing the waters and getting a feel of what kind of interest is out there for a Sinister 29er. We'll have a couple for peeps to take a spin on at upcoming events. If you are interested in the frame we would love to hear from you.

Have sizes been determined?
29ers have been targeted to the tall,long-legged set of riders. Other than Niner or custom, the Basset-hounds of the world have been shut out of the best of the 29er crowd.

The sizes will be available for those of us who are vertically challenged...the second run is in the nacent stages right now. The current prototype group is comprised of just the medium frames...thankfully they were built around an average of my measurments and Darrells LOL.
any questions about the upcoming run or the two remaining frames can be answered at 29er@sinister.com

The boys at Sinister should really provide some type of hookup to Alex of bcd racing. I know he would like to buy one of the remaining too, but the price right now is too high for him.
Alex is a pioneer for the DH 29er movement and he seems like an all around cool guy.
Perhaps if the guys at Sinister see this post, they can make another different offer to get Alex on a Sinister 29er hardtail.
Just my two cents.

Alex was actually offered a frame below cost.

That's cool - figured he must have been given a good deal. Too bad it couldn't have worked out though - he seems like a really good guy.

I'm picking my frame up first thing tomorrow AM....Everything is set for the build sans my rear wheel...I have a SS wheel ready but the SS Adjustable drops are a week and a half out still...So my rear wheel is getting laced now, just a Delgado Disc with a Hope Pro II.
The basic setup should be ready to rock tomorrow evening. VERY VERY Stoked.
Anyone interested in one of these who is on the East coast shoul think about Pedrosfest as I'll be there with my bike Sat and Sunday.

Sounds cool. post some pics when she's together! I've never been to Pedros, thinking of going for one day this year. Are you going to the Bike29 Meatup in VT on 7/21 - 22 ?

Kind of had a feeling it was a no - go. That's me masquerading as MTBDEE on MTBR... someone took BDEE (bastard!). I called George yesterday to see if this was still going to happen but his line was always busy. I'm sure he's up to his eyeballs in work right now. Maybe I'll make a trip up that way anyway, who knows. If anyone from this board is going up and wants to get something going for that weekend let me know - maybe we could divy up the lodging costs?
