Does anyone have any recomendations on a FF helmet? I took a header into a rock last night, and split my lip open. I'm still in my teens and my teeth are important. But I don't want to get one if im going to roast in it in the summer heat.

I hear ya .... I kissed a tree on a drop few weeks ago, and went and bought a FF. Broke a tooth ... yet I did the drop again & properly tho. ;)
There's lots of choices and threads on the subject. I got the Giro Remedy cuz the price is right and plenty of folks recommend em.
Here's the thing. Try a buddies' on first for a ride... it feels like you're wearing a fricken space helmet compared to an XC helmet at first. Def gonna be warmer.
Just make sure you can deal with the big lid before you drop $100.

Trevor,
All FF helmets are going to be warm. Giro use to make one called the Blade, maybe they still do, that people used for XC. Might check it out.
Yeah it was a nice digger! A little work on your technique and you'll be fine. Trying to ride your hardtail & using clipless at HP kind of did you in.

Oh yea ... If you're just getting used to clipless then don't get a ff helmet.
Just practice & practice on the lawn until you pop out easy peasy.
It will happen. We've all been there.
I broke my finger in the beginning with clipless ..I'de panic then boom ... now ... I don't leave home without em. ;)

Oh .. so the real deal is your Mom wants you to get a FF helmet. :D
Yea.. Moms are great ... I'm an ole guy and I still like telling mom what we're up to ... just to hear her say "Please be careful honey".
Guarantee ya ... a year from now you will chuckle at what rocks used to give you trouble. Just keep at it kid. ;)

They don't make it anymore (it was the Switchblade) - it was basically an regular ol XC helmet but had a removable face-guard section and was way less hot to ride in than a 'real' FF helmet. Maybe you can find one on ebay or something - pretty sweet idea. I still have mine around.

eh I don't care about it. I might get one and use it for now and also use it for the winter.

Great helmet if you can still find one, ebay would probably be the best bet. I have one and love it, everything else I've tried feels like a MX helmet. It was pricey, but all those vents make it worth every penny.
My coworker just bought a Bell Bellistic and "loves the thing" (just asked him). It was short money, and while "hot as hell while standing still" it's "not bad at all when riding".
